Hello! I'm back!

Over a month without writing post… what possible excuse could make up for it?!?!

I have slipped in a bit of site seeing here and there, but I do have to say that there is something that I am beginning to miss especially about Singapore; the island is so tiny! Its so much easier to travel and site see in a place where everything is at your finger tips. Most of the places I want to see in Queensland are a few hours drive away; definitely an inconvenience.  Although in saying this, I would love to share with you just two of the places I have visited in the last few weeks.

I don’t know what it is about visiting new places; perhaps its the new scenery, the mutual happiness you share with the people around you who are also seeing the site for the first time or the knowledge that there is so much left out there to explore and set your eyes upon but it just gives me the greatest rush! I always feel so inspired. So as you could probably imagine, I have been absolutely buzzing about ticking off a few sites on my list of things to see in Brisbane.  They aren’t as exotic as the sites in Singapore, but living away from Australia for a year has really given me a new sense of appreciation for the landscape here.

A few weeks ago I visited Mt Coot-tah, primarily for the lookout, but also for the botanical gardens.  I had seen pictures of the lookout online as it seems to be one of the more popular attractions in Brisbane! The lookout is quite the spectacle. You get a wonderful view of the city and neighboring suburbs. The circular shaped viewing platform allows you to see the city from a variety of angles and viewpoints.  It is quite peaceful to sit atop the mountain and admire the view which stretches as far as the eye can see.

After one of my university orientation sessions I caught the ferry to Wilsons Outlook. Since moving to Brisbane I haven’t been able to get a good clear view of the iconic Story Bridge, and I had heard that the outlook has one of the best views in the city.  When I made it to the view point, there was hardly anyone there so I sat down for a while and read (I’m reading GoldFinch by Donna Tartt at the moment and it is absolutely brilliant!!). It was complete and utter bliss. The view was wonderful and incredibly scenic. I loved being able to look over the city, relax and enjoy it from a different perspective.

You may be wondering where this blog is going to go especially as I am no longer living abroad. I do intend to change the name in the next few weeks or so, which I am sure I will make an announcement about. I am feeling a bit melancholy about changing the name as I owe a lot to this website, especially because of how it helped me to get the most out of last year. Although, in saying this, I am desperate to continue the blog and I definitely do not want to misrepresent what I write about on here.

I have a few places I plan on visiting in the next few weeks so hopefully I will get back into uploading regularly. Happy Chinese New Year!
