Moments that never made it to the blog #1: July

I have decided to do a bit of a different blog post this week.  As I recently started an Instagram account for this blog, I have definitely been inspired to capture more of my surroundings.  Although, a lot of these moments never make it to the blog as I feel as though I may not have enough content to dedicate a single post to them.  In saying this, I have decided to compile some of my favourite moments from this month and share a bit about them. Enjoy!

Morning Tea in Tiong Bahru // Singapore

There were a few moments from my Singapore trip that for some unknown reason I never included in my original blog post! One of which was a morning tea I had in the quaint area of Tiong Bahru. Tiong Bahru is definitely one of Singapore’s hidden gems. If you are a lover of whimsical stores, which are brimming with items that you would have no chance of finding anywhere else, you will surely be mesmerised by this area.  Not to mention that Tiong Bahru has the best cupcake shop I have ever been to! If you are ever in the area, be sure to check out the stores; Books Actually and Plain Vanilla Bakery.  The beauty of this area is that during the week it can be so quiet that it doesn’t even feel like Singapore! You will most definitely become lost in the countless cafĂ© spots and the treasure trove of unique shopping locations.

The Annual Singapore Lecture at the Shangri-La Hotel // Singapore

Another previously unpublished moment from Singapore was being invited to the stunning, Shangri-la Hotel for the 35th Annual Singapore Lecture given by the Australian Prime Minister, Tony Abbott.

What a thrill! It was so exciting for me to witness something so prestigious and have just a glimpse into the world of politics and global relations. I have never really heard someone involved in politics speak before, so for my first experience to be hearing the Australian Prime Minister was something I highly regarded. As I am studying a degree in Communications, I really enjoyed watching how the Prime Minister carried himself. It was also fascinating for me to listen and analyse his choice of words, especially during the question and answer time. I was really impressed by the lecture and was able to take a lot out of it.  I couldn’t help but think how ironic it was that I had to come all the way to Singapore from my home in Australia to hear the Australian Prime Minister speak…but it was definitely a special addition to my holiday and is bound to be a great conversation starter in the future!

Grandparents Farm // Rosewood

A few weeks ago I headed to my grandparents farm for dinner. As they live in the country, we don’t get to go there very often, but I always enjoy the change of scenery.

When the sun was setting, we decided to walk to the farm to get a better view. It was breathtaking! There really is something special about being in the country and having no buildings obstructing your view that makes a sunset so much more spectacular. The sky was painted with neon strips of colour, so I couldn’t help but get my camera out and continue to be awestruck by my surroundings.

City Botanical Gardens // Brisbane

Last week after a lecture I had a bit of time to kill before my bus came, so I decided to go for a walk around the City Botanical Gardens.  It was a pretty gloomy day, but there is something so peaceful about walking around areas with such lush greenery. The open areas and scenic walking paths make it an ideal spot to just stop and relax.
