Brisbane: Day and Night

Last Saturday night my family and I went to Bulimba for dinner. Bulimba is a beautiful area, located right along the Brisbane River. We had dinner at a Sri Lankan restaurant called Ceylon Inn. I definitely recommend this restaurant to absolutely everyone! Especially those who love curries and Indian food.

The restaurant so was pleasant to dine in due to the colourful lanterns, pillows and decorated walls. Above the table were what looked like Saris, delicately decorating the ceiling. The assortment of bright colours naturally added life and excitement to my dining experience and definitely suggested that we were in for an authentic experience!

We ordered so many wonderful dishes. Some include, Tandoori Fish, Garlic Naan, Dal, Butter Chicken and Lamb Bistake.

I love Indian and Sri Lankan food, so I was in complete and utter heaven! Most of the dishes also had a bit of spice to them which I LOVE.  The flavours of all the dishes we ordered were rich and all the ingredients worked together perfectly.

I was really blown away by this restaurant and the standard of food we were served.  Everything was divine, flavorsome and introduced me to some wonderful new flavours. I love trying out new dishes and expanding my palette!

After one of my morning classes at university, I headed into the city with some friends.  Every morning my bus goes through the city and I have noticed that every Wednesday there seems to be markets. I had been recommended to go there by a few people, so as you could imagine, I was desperate to check it out! The markets are located along Queen Street, beside Queen Street Mall; right in the heart of the city, so it is impossible to miss. They are open every Wednesday from 10 am to 6pm.

The markets are a complete and utter wonderland! There are so, so many stalls that you’re bound to find something there that’s perfect for you. Whether it’s from a delectable baked good, a refreshing beverage or even a spice mix. There is also an extensive range of fresh produce.  My friends and I couldn’t seem to stop ourselves, giving into temptation and buying a pretzel donut and some fresh lemonade.

It’s so hard to control yourself when you’re amongst so many wonderful foods. It was so enjoyable to walk around the incredibly bright, lively and bustling market and admire the almost never-ending array of foods.

If you’re ever in Brisbane city, or a market lover like myself, you should definitely consider visiting Queen Street Markets; you definitely will not regret it!

As I was walking back to my bus stop, I walked past Queens Park.  I was a bit early for my bus so it seemed to be the perfect opportunity to sit in the tranquil park and just relax with a book for a little while. I am currently reading The Good Girl by Mary Kubica; once again it’s an awesome thriller/mystery novel (I just cant seem to stray from this genre can I!).  The park itself is lovely. The gardens are beautifully manicured and there is so much space to just sit and relax. Additionally, the buildings circling it give off a great almost heritage feel, which add to the peaceful ambiance.

So far I am really, really loving living here in Brisbane and am very much so looking forward to many more places to explore in the near future!
